Super Mario Bros. Wii

This is a very awesome and fun game that just came out for the Wii. The cover has pretty cool graphics and its very simple, basically a photo and type. I love how the typeface has depth to it and pops out at you when you look at it. (This is a game that I own and scanned at home)

Ron Jon

Ron Jon Surf Shop's are located in Florida. This is the 50th anniversary Ron Jon sticker. It is very cool how they used surf boards in the back ground and the font on the sticker as well as their logo is very original and one of a kind. (This is a sticker that I got from the shop and scanned at home)

House MD

House is a very good show on television. The seasons DVD box's are also interesting. I love the way they used a stethoscope on the back of the box to kind of block the text from the rest of the text. Very interesting and cleaver way to use graphic design. (I own this dvd so I scanned it from home)

Ratatouille

Ratatouille is a great kids movie about a young mouse who loves culinary and helps
out a young man with his job at a resteraunt. I think this box has
great graphic design because of the depth that the characters have and
the way they placed the typeface on the cover. Very interesting to look
at as well as to watch! (I own this movie, so I scanned it)

Switchfoot

Switchfoot is one of my favorite bands and they always come out with awesome cd jewel cases. I believe that this one in-particular is cool because all of the hand drawn art on the front and back. Its a very original design, just like the band itself. (I scanned this actual cd case that I own)

Moroccan Oil

Moroccan Oil has unique quality of instant absorption into hair, creating an instant shine and long term conditioning without leaving residue. It is a product that I use and part of the reason I tried this product was because of the awesome graphic design on the box and the glass bottle that the product it is in. The box has interesting colors and a clean typeface. It is very eye catching. Awesome design Moroccan Oil company! (I scanned this actual box that I own)

Cool Design

I thought this was a cool idea. Using several different typefaces and inserting them into a graphically designed person. Its very eye catching and fresh. Its also pretty trendy if you ask me yet has the feel of something maybe from the 20's or 30's. (HOW magazine 6/2009)

Make Something

I thought this was a really cool ad for shutterstock. Basically its showing some of the cool designs that could be made by using their images. (HOW magazine 6/2009)

Look at me: I'm Skiing

I thought this was a particularly cool looking graphic design. With the mountains coming out of the helmet gear and the other cool looking abstract designs that are along with it. I found this design in HOW (August 2009 issue).

To and Fro

This piece is almost like a narrative. He is shown holding a candle, with pajamas on, barefoot, while his hat is being blown off, and some houses are shown in the distance. It can either have a very spooky like feel too it or just him going outside to do something before a big storm hits. Either way you look at it, its brilliant. (By Teun Hocks, from the book The Photo Book by Phaidon)

"My Mother, Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire"

I think this photo, or collage of photos, makes the mood feel sad, like something tragic happend in that setting. Her facial expressions look as though she may break down at any given second. I think the way he placed each part of the photo give the viewer, maybe a sense of what had happend or what may have went on. A very strong piece if you ask me! (By David Hockney from the book The Photo Book by Phaidon)

Migrant Mother

This photo is from the book "The Photo Book" and the photo is by Dorothea Lange and it is called Migrant Mother, Nipomo, California. It was taken in March of 1936 along with 6 other photos which became well known almost immediately. It has a feel of sadness but at the same time looks so scared and doesn't know what to do from here. It really impacted me when I saw it.

Milk Anyone?

This is from the magazine Critique, its actually from Autumn of 2000. It is a design for a new milk packaging. I think it is very clever and that the design is very unique and fresh. Thats really all I have to say about it, I really like this design!

Tropical??

This is just a quick sketch for my first sketch (I did have this on http://typerchick.blogspot.com/ but decided to create a blog just for Graphic Design 1 and the date for this blog post actually was monday, august 24, 2009) We have a hammock in out back yard and we basically have two of these on each side, and have the hammock hooked on the top log, on each side, with some sea grass stuff growing around them.
